Locals say that in Mykonos there is one chapel for every day of the year, an inaccurate information as the island counts more than 600 churches and chapels. In addition to this, the rich history of this Cycladic gem led to the creation of various architectural styles that divert from one side of the island to the other.

Some of the most important churches are:

Panagia Paraportiani: Famous for its unique form, Panagia Portariani comprises an exquisite piece of art framed to be something more than a church.over the passing years.

Panagia Tourliani: Founded in 1542 on the ruins of an old church, Panagia Tourliani combines the traditional church architecture with carving baroque style. You can find Byzantine artifacts and other antiques at the inner space of the church.

Palaiokastro Monastery: Palaiokastro is a women’s monastery that was built in the 18th century in classic and traditional Cycladic architecture. Nearby, you can find one of the two ancient Mykonian cities.
